No matter how great a photo is, there is a high chance that you will eventually want to modify it. You may need to resize a photo, crop it or modify it as you repurpose it for another project. Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular image editing options . It is effective and powerful but it’s also expensive. Not everyone requires the large array of features Photoshop offers. At almost $240 USD for an annual subscription, the casual photo editor is justified for seeking alternatives. One option is to edit photos online if you don’t need all the features of Photoshop regularly.
Edit photos online without downloading software
There are quite a few online photo editing applications that allow you to manipulate images directly from your web browser. These web apps are useful because they are free to use and you do not need to install any software. This makes these tools available wherever you can access the internet. Another advantage of these photo editors is that, since they are web based, they are also cross platform and work on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems.
Pixlr provides an experience that users of desktop photo editing software will find familiar. It’s layout is similar to that of Photoshop, admittedly, without all the bells and whistles. Pixlr is however a step up from Microsoft Paint and offers features such as layers and filter effects. Pixlr can be used to create images from scratch or edit existing images. Unfortunately, Pixlr requires the Adobe Flash plugin to work.
iPiccy is a less conventional photo editing web app focused on editing existing images. It allows for a wide range of colour adjustments and effects. It also offers basic editing such as cropping and resizing as well as standard painting and drawing tools. Its quick results and fun image modifications make it another interesting option. iPiccy also requires the Adobe Flash plugin.
Edit photos online for social media and marketing
Social media is a large part of our individual and business lives, whether we like it or not. We are constantly looking at ways to properly utilize our social networks. Visuals perform much better on these platforms than plain text. Some online photo editing apps make it easy to create content for popular social media websites and business marketing in general.
Design Wizard is a template based photo editing service. It provides templates for common design types but you can also design from a blank canvas. This is a great tool to try out if you are looking for design inspiration. You can edit the elements of the design to get your desired look. Change text. Change colours. Replace images. Templates are available for social media graphics, marketing material, greeting cards and even video designs. The user interface is simple and intuitive so you can get up and running fairly quickly.
Canva is another web based design creation tool that thrives on templates. While you are not limited to using these, it is difficult to ignore them. Canva boasts a wide range of design options from social media graphics to poster and logo design. The available tools and design options vary based on the type of design you choose. Canva’s modern interface and large collection of design templates make it an ideal choice for the quick photo edit.
