Tech Tip: Store files online for backup and sync

Cloud StorageThere are many options available for storing files online for backup purposes or to sync across devices. These forms of cloud storage can be a lifesaver if you are a student and your computer crashes. It is also good for syncing non-sensitive files from work and home. In situations where you do not have your computer but have access to the internet you can retrieve files stored in special shared folders using these services. All of these services are free solutions (with optional premium versions) that allow you to store files in the cloud.

Dropbox is a popular online storage service that offers 2GB of storage for free. You can refer friends to the service and fr each friend that installs Dropbox as a result of your referral you get an additional 500MB of free storage (up to 18GB). If you have many friends willing to try the service this is a great way of getting a large mount of free storage for free. Dropbox also allows you to share files and folders with others.
