Slight Hike In Domain Registration Price

Today I was renewing a domain name with GoDaddy when I came across this notice

On April 5, 2007, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN®) approved a price increase for the .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO and .BIZ registries, which we strongly disapproved of and did our best to oppose. This increase in our cost has affected the renewal price for the related TLDs purchased prior to September 26, 2007.

In accordance with our 10-Point Value Plan, renewal prices for domains purchased on or before May 29, 2007 have been increased by the same amount as our cost increase. For domains purchased between May 30, 2007 and September 25, 2007, renewal prices have been increased by the same percentage as our cost increase.

This means instead of costing $25 (XCD) domain name registrations and renewals will now cost $28 (XCD). This will affect all clients of the relevant top level domains registered with GoDaddy. Though the price increase is disappointing I still believe GoDaddy is one of the cheapest trustworthy domain registrars and SeizerStyle Designs will continue using their services.
